“Do not let your hearts be troubled.”
These are the words Jesus used to try to calm the fear and anxiety of the disciples, his best students, his closest friends and relations. They had just finished their final meal together. And Jesus had just washed their feet – it had been an unexpected and unique ritual in which Jesus had stooped down on his own hands and knees, to take the form of a servant, in ministry to his beloved friends. And it was through this ritual, that they had begun to understand his true love for them, and the role reversal about to take place. Soon, Jesus would be gone and it would be up to them to carry out His work in the world – his healing, and his acts of mercy…
