Fr. Stephen Morris has degrees in medieval history and theology from Yale and St. Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Academy. Ordained a priest in 1984, he served as the Eastern Orthodox chaplain at Columbia University and founded a mission parish on the UWS. As a “tentmaker priest,” he taught special education in District 75 for the NYC Department of Education for 27 years. Fr. Morris has written books and academic essays dealing primarily with church history and theology, as well as urban fantasy novels.
Fr. Morris was received as a priest in the Episcopal Church in 2022. He has served parishes in Kips Bay, midtown Manhattan, Brooklyn Heights, and BedStuy.
Fr. Morris, a Seattle native, is now a long-time New York resident and currently lives in Hamilton Heights (west Harlem) with his partner, Elliot.
The vestry is made of dedicated individuals who help navigate and attend to the needs of the parish.
